Blak Madeen (Al-J and Yusuf Abdul-Mateen) compile thirteen years of underground hits with ‘Rhyme Dawah: The Best Of 2005-2018’ album. The rap duo who is currently signed with Chuck D‘s SpitSLAM Records first formed a bond in Boston back in the early 2000s through conscious and Islamic beliefs. This twenty-one track project consists of the hardest-hitting boom bap beats with a plethora of legendary emcees and producers including Cormega, Tragedy Khadafi, Planet Asia, Stalley, Jeru The Damaja, U-God, Gift Of Gab, Lord Jamar, Reef The Lost Cauze, Blacastan and many more.
“It’s nice looking back on our catalogue, knowing we’ve been consistent with our message and sound. We never deviated from what inspired us in the first place,” says Yusuf. “13 years of Blak Madeen and that barely scratches the surface!!” Al-J adds. “We have always shared a profound dedication to the craft so making music followed as a matter of course. We made so many songs over the years that we literally had to consolidate them because it’s so monumental,” concludes the producer, Leedz.
