A few days ago, Tony Hawk made some waves in the movie world during the Through the Lens podcast, by accidentally leaking that Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will score the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie ‘Mutant Mayhem,’ which arrives on August 2nd.
Since the news was spread at an incredible pace, director Jeff Rowe had no other choice, but to confirm the news. In a tweet, he shared: “Well now that my teenage hero Tony Hawk has leaked that my music heroes are doing this I can add that the score is absolutely AMAZING. Exhilarating, terrifying, heartbreaking, full of sounds I didn’t know existed. I don’t have the vocabulary to describe it. I love it so much.”
He added: “For those speculating: nothing they’ve done has been released yet. It’s not them in the teaser trailer, and won’t be them in this week’s trailer. You’ll just have to wait until August 2 to have your mind shattered and rebuilt with beauty and then shattered again.”
Hawk was quick to offer his apology, as he was not aware it was a secret, while was even quicker to accept it, calling the whole situation “the coolest thing that could have possibly happened.”
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have a big history in movie scores, working on titles like ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ ‘Gone Girl,’ ‘Soul,’ and most notably ‘The Social Network,’ for which they won an Oscar. Hawk and Reznor recently connected for a cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ ‘Wish,’ where Reznor made a cameo in a video.
‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ arrives at movie theatres on August 2nd, and stars Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Micah Abbey as Donatello, Brady Noon as Raphae, and Jackie Chan as Splinter. The cast also involves Ayo Edebiri, Seth Rogen, John Cena, Ice Cube, Paul Rudd, Rose Byrne, Post Malone, Maya Rudolph, and Giancarlo Esposito.
