Many Eyes – the new band led by iconic metalcore frontman, Keith Buckley – released their second single ‘Mystic Cord.’ Co-written by Buckley with band members and multi-instrumentalist brothers, Nick Bellmore and Charlie Bellmore – ‘Mystic Cord’ is a grungy hardcore anthem that dives into tackling trauma head-on. With a mix of raw vocals and heavy instrumentals, the song reflects on the idea that in order to truly overcome the past, we must fully separate ourselves from those who have done us harm.
Speaking on the track, Buckley shares: “Lyrically, the song is about untangling ourselves from the traditions that bind us to past trauma. I hoped to express the idea that it’s not enough to just put up a boundary, there has to be the deeper, more difficult work of separating one’s entire life path from the path of those who harm us.”
The new visual was created by Jake Johnston (Sleep Token) and 3-D visual artist, Matthew Collamore. For the ‘Mystic Cord’ video, the band called on their fan base to join them in a pursuit of nostalgia to assist in creating the new piece. Fans had the opportunity to submit personal photos from their own family archives to encapsulate the vibe when times were “simpler” or just a trip down memory lane. Within 48 hours, submissions exceeded thousands of entries and those helped shape the story.
