The Mongolian-British producer Taiki Nulight returns to the limelight with ‘Style’ alongside the legendary SE London Grime MC P Money. A bold, bass-heavy, and hair-raising version of an original Bakey and Capo Lee track, this single marks the beginning of one of the UK electronic music scene’s most seasoned producer’s next chapter. Making an outrageously slick return back to his 140 roots, with ‘Style’ Taiki Nulight firmly cements himself as one of the scene’s most in demand and effortlessly sick producers; as the prolific P Money demonstrates his unmatched dexterity for club heavy riddims – laying down his potent bars dripping in swag.
Dropping alongside the single today is a Plastic Fruit Studios and Sky Goulding-directed video shot in Sheffield with Sinai Sound System featuring both Taiki and P Money, shot on the Sinai Sound System – who are the first ever sound system to install a system into Fabric for HVYWGHT later this month. The visual gives the feeling of being at a warehouse rave – dark gritty, but also fun.
Speaking on the collaboration, Taiki Nulight says: “Where to start? The journey of this track began with a remix idea for Bakey and Capo Lee’s ‘Too Much Sauce.’ Upon discovering they had released stems for a remix competition, I saw a prime opportunity to craft another 140 dub for my sets. Initially, I didn’t give it much thought nor did I enter the competition, but I shared it with a few peers for feedback, including P Money. To my surprise, he requested the instrumental with Capo’s hook, and within a day, P delivered the track with the vocals you hear now. I’m thrilled to have both P and Capo on this record, as I’ve been a long-time fan of both of them. This is just the beginning; there’s much more to come in the future.”
P Money adds: “I’ve been hunting for new music at 140bpm that can fit in multiple genres and when I heard this I knew I found it. Capo Lee is a good friend of mine and I think it’s important to remix a track properly and have the originals involved so we did just that. Whether you like grime, dubstep or garage I feel like Taiki found a way to fit all vibes into one sound and added me to really push it. No pigeon holes. Just a tempo. 140 baby! Oh yeah, and we got like 4 or 5 more bangers too.”
