Kofi Stone announces second album ‘A Man After God’s Own Heart’

Birmingham-based rapper Kofi Stone has announced his long-awaited second album ‘A Man After God’s Own Heart’, set for release on Friday 4th October.

‘A Man After God’s Own Heart’ is Kofi’s first full-length release since his acclaimed debut album ‘Nobody Cares Till Everybody Does’ released in 2019 – a defining introduction to Kofi’s introspective and deeply honest brand of Hip-hop that has seen him become one of the most promising musicians in recent years. The album features the run of successive releases we’ve seen from Kofi this year, including ‘May Sound Crazy’ featuring Benjamin Zephaniah, ‘Black Joy’, and most recent offering ‘King David Flow’.

Kofi sounds like a man reborn. The last five years have sparked a life-changing amount of realisation and deeper understanding within himself, resulting in an abundance of artistic dynamism. The record leaves no doubt as to the true extent of Kofi’s pen, delivering his signature flair for storytelling against the smoothest beats, rapping with such vulnerability and purpose that would stop anyone dead in their tracks.

The album is an ode to the story of King David. Described throughout The Bible as a man after God’s own heart, Kofi was inspired by David’s dedication to his faith, even in the midst of his own repentance. It’s a multifaceted narrative, but at its core is one of courage, leadership, and the complexities of human nature. Kofi spent much of his time getting closer to God whilst writing the album, and set out to create a record that could act as an entry point for those that too are on a journey of self-discovery.

“To me, this record captures love, faith, and family. These are things I hold in high regard in my life. I have experienced them all in different ways so I wanted to make records that reflect that. It also touches on race and my upbringing, I really wanted whoever listens to it to understand me as a man. I wanted to let you into my heart and my mind.” Kofi says. “AMAGOH is meant to highlight heart posture. I want people to look inwards. Nothing beats a pure heart. If people take anything away from this record it’s that we should always strive to be better. It’s important that we are checking in with ourselves and trying to improve and also enjoying our time while we’re here. In my years of being alive, I wanted to put all the lessons, the love stories, the heartbreaks, the sweet memories and the dark times on record. All the things that have made me the man I am today.”
