West London UK Garage trailblazer Conducta returns with his first new material in over a year. An addictive, high-octane offering with vocals from rebellious neo-soul singer JGrrey, ‘Time’ is a bubbling 2020 NUKG anthem – and a much-needed dose of inimitable Conducta energy. The first collaboration between the pair, ‘Time’ is a match made in heaven; an anthemic earworm of a track that lingers long after listening.
Accompanied by the Elliot Simpson-directed visual, ‘Time’ sets the pace for a new wave of material from Conducta, who has hinted at a project on the horizon. The producer behind AJ Tracey’s inescapable ‘Ladbroke Grove,’ (now double-platinum and recognized as the biggest-selling UK Garage record in history), and founder of the much-hyped Kiwi Rekords label, Conducta’s imminent return to the spotlight is more than welcome; a truly inspiring and trailblazing artist – carving his own path through the music world.
In the video for ‘Time,’ we join Conducta and JGrrey at a warehouse party; Conducta spinning on the decks and J singing, surrounded by friends and partygoers. Suddenly entering an alternate universe, the visual plays with the notion of time as the guests pause like mannequins. Confused but intrigued, Conducta explores the ability to pause time, as he realizes his decks control the movement of the crowd.
Following on from JGrrey’s delectable autumn single ‘Doubt Nothing,’ ‘Time’ is the first collaboration we’ve seen from the South London-hailing singer – cementing the sonic serendipity of a musical partnership that has been on the cards for the past four years. Already friends via London’s thriving music scene, JGrrey and Conducta have often crossed paths but it wasn’t until ‘Time’ that the moment felt right to collaborate.
