Hungarian punk rock powerhouses, The Hellfreaks, have announced their brand new album for January 2020. The album will be called ‘God On The Run,’ and it’s the band’s first new music since 2016′ effort ‘Astoria.’ Along with the album announcement, the band shared the leading single ‘Men In Grey.’
The Hellfreaks spent the last two years working new songs, also fulfilling their long-time dream of working with producers from abroad. The pre-production is done with Paul Miner (New Found Glory, Atreyu, Death By Stereo), production and mixing are done by Evan Rodaniche (Escape The Fate, Powerman 5000, Lacey Sturm), while Tom Waltz joined the mastering team to provide the perfect final form for the band’s songs and ideas.
As the first taste of the new record, the band shared their brand new single ‘Men In Grey,’ along with an accompanying video by Mihaszna Film. The song focuses on the value of time and its irreplaceable and irreversible nature. “Under the pressure of everyday performance stress, everybody is constantly striving for efficiency, trying to make every moment of their lives worthwhile, because our social worth is determined by the achievements in our work,” shared the band, and added, “Meanwhile, we do not have the time to ask ourselves: Is this really the key to success and happiness?”
The main inspiration for the lyrics came from a tale about time by Michael Ende, ‘Momo,’ in which “a mysterious company, a group of grey lords (Men In Grey) overwhelm people and encourage them to save time. But time is life itself, and life dwells in the heart. So the more they conserve it, the poorer, more shallow and cooler their present will become, and the more they will become a stranger to themselves.”
