UK band Acres recently announced that their new album ‘The Host’ arrives May 2nd via Solid State Records. Now, they share the new single ‘Staring at the Sun’. Watch the performance video, which presents the band in its most natural state with instruments in hand, here. There’s also subtle voyeuristic vibe to the camera angles and you won’t be able to look away.
The song showcases the band’s quiet-loud dynamics — Acres‘ deftness with melody, maelstrom, and romantic misery. “‘Staring at the Sun’ is a classic miserable Acres love song,” shares vocalist Ben Lumber. “The record goes in a brand new direction, but we wanted a few songs to nod to our roots with remnants of our old vibe. It’s about not being able to let go of someone or something who has a hold over you.”
