Alkaline Trio have found their new drummer following the departure of Derek Grant. Atom Willard, known for his work with Rocket From The Crypt, Against Me!, and Angels & Airwaves, has stepped up to take the reins. The announcement was made simultaneously by Willard and the band on their respective socials. Willard‘s association with Alkaline Trio goes back to the 2000s when he toured with the group. Additionally, he has collaborated with Alkaline Trio‘s guitarist and vocalist, Matt Skiba, on the latest side project Lektron.
Derek Grant, who had been with Alkaline Trio for 22 years, stepped down from the band, citing the demanding nature of touring as his primary reason for leaving. Grant joined the band shortly after the release of their breakthrough album, ‘From Here to Infirmary,’ in 2001.
