Angel Du$t are gearing up for the impending release of their highly anticipated new album, ‘Brand New Soul,’ and today the most daring band in punk/hardcore have shared one more audacious single, ‘Born To Run.’
Due out September 8th via Pop Wig Records, ‘Brand New Soul’ combines rock and roll swagger, hardcore ferocity, and adventurous production flourishes to prove once again that there’s no other band quite like Angel Du$t. Recorded by Paul Mercer, mixed by Rob Schnapf and Steve Wright, and produced by frontman, Justice Tripp, the album feels the most potent encapsulation the one-of-a-kind musician’s vision to date, managing to tap into elements from every era of Angel Du$t‘s catalog.
‘Born 2 Run’ follows ‘Racecar’ and ‘Space Jam’ (which have drawn attention from the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, Uproxx, Kerrang, BrooklynVegan, Consequence, Revolver, and many more) and offers one more early taste of the sonic ambition awaiting listeners on ‘BRAND NEW SOUL.’ Starting with a bouncy tempo and dreamy guitars ‘Born 2 Run’ highlights Angel Du$t‘s mastery of jangly pop, then unexpectedly pivots into fearless new territory with a sprawling outro of vibrant electronics and guest vocals from Mary Jane Dunphe.
‘BRAND NEW SOUL’ marks a new chapter for Angel Du$t, one that channels Tripp‘s vision more directly than ever before. For nearly two decades, the musician has consistently been ahead of the curve: first with Trapped Under Ice, where he led the way for a new wave of heavy hardcore, and then as the mastermind behind Angel Du$t, where he blazed the trail for the current generation of hardcore musicians to branch out into unabashedly catchy territory. Tripp’s work is marked by an ever-evolving creativity that’s made him highly influential, and ‘BRAND NEW SOUL’ proves exactly why. The record is a fearless and open-hearted tribute to all things rock, offering listeners a chance to be right there with Angel Du$t on the cutting edge. Tripp has always had an eye on the future, but Angel Du$t’s time is now.
Angel Du$t have also announced a massive run of worldwide tour dates that will be keeping them very busy for the rest of 2023. First the band will be hitting the UK, followed by Australia, Southeast Asia, and Japan, and then rounding out the year with a lengthy run of North American shows. The dates include support from the likes of Candy, Bib, Restraining Order, Mary Jane Dunphe, Steve Marino, and many more.
