BXKS shares seven-song mixtape ‘Hack The Planet’

One of the most exciting emerging voices in UK hip hop BXKS drops her second mixtape of 2021, ‘Hack The Planet’ via Marathon Artists. Leaning on a variety of sonic influences from electronic/club music (‘4DaKidz,’ ‘Swish’) and grime in ‘L.U.V.’ and more, this new project that features the dancehall inflected ‘Bones To Pick’ and the lively Timbaland-esque ‘Mean Amount’ sees BXKS continue to prove her enviable versatility on this mix genre tape.

As visually intent as she is sonically, BXKS also shares a high-energy video ‘321’ featuring Oscar #Worldpeace. A modern black and white take on two of BXKS favorite music videos – ’21 Seconds’ by So Solid Crew and ‘Round Round’ by the Sugababes – this edgy, nostalgic visual directed by Jay Green starring both BXKS and Oscar provides the perfect visual texture for this body moving, crowd jumping track.

Speaking on the collab, BXKS says: ‘321’ is very laid back riddim with not many lyrics produced by Ewhizz and featuring Oscar #Worldpeace. They both shelled it so I’m excited for the tune to touch roads.“ Oscar #Worldpeace adds: “Big fan of BXKS so when she asked me to jump on ‘321’ it was a no-brainer. Produced by my family E Whizz so it made it even more special. I can’t wait to perform this one.”

On the video, Jay Green says: “For ‘321’ I wanted to contribute to BXKS‘s clear Y2k aesthetic, taking cues from ‘Blade,’ ‘The Matrix’ and So Solid‘s – ’21 Seconds’ to form this gritty visual. Presenting her and Oscar #Worldpeace in this abstracted and infinite caged world (I guess a kind of metaphor for how algorithmic and homogeneous society/art can be nowadays.) that they are trying to break out and ascend from as unique and talented underground artists.”
