Kicking off the new year with the relaunch of his Breakbeat Kaos label, DJ Fresh steps up for the first release. Dropping ‘Dancing In The Dark’ alongside Buunshin, it marks the lead track to his upcoming ‘Dancing In The Dark’ EP next month.
Over 20 years since he set the drum & bass world alight with his Bad Company crew, DJ Fresh is returning to his roots as he relaunches Breakbeat Kaos with heavy-hitting, raw and undiluted D&B designed to destroy the dancefloor.
Initially curating the label with Adam F and launching the careers of Pendulum, Sigma, Chase & Status, Nero, and the Brookes Brothers, the label is set to make a legendary impact once more. It relaunches with a fresh look and team that encapsulates the same core values, guiding the label back into the pole-position that originally placed D&B on the mainstream map, whilst nurturing and showcasing new music from exciting and emerging talent.
A global name with hits across club-ready D&B and in the crossover dance space, DJ Fresh has led the genre with its first UK no.1 – ‘Hot Right Now’ feat. Rita Ora. Also known for tracks like ‘Gold Dust,’ additional UK no.1 ‘Louder,’ and working with Diplo, Ella Eyre, Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding, and more, the esteemed producer has multiple chart entries including ten Top 10 singles, including five Top 5’s to his name.
Now returning to the world of gritty d&b, his first release back on Breakbeat Kaos sees Fresh team up with rising producer Buunshin. Leading a fresh generation of producers, Buunshin has been causing a stir in recent years with his technical prowess, breaking through with his debut EP on DIVIDID which catapulted to no.1 on the Beatport D&B Chart whilst earning support from Noisia, Camo & Krooked and Mefjus. Leading to further releases on Vision Recordings, Mau5trap, Neosignal, and Inspected whilst remixing for Fresh himself, Buunshin marks the perfect first addition to Breakbeat Kaos’ relaunch.
A heavyweight, knockout punch, Dancing In The Dark is the version of Fresh many dedicated D&B fans grew up pulling bass faces to. It gives fans a taste of what to expect from the full EP that will also include Sunset and an AMC remix of Heavyweight.
Already seen causing damage amongst crowds in a post-lockdown video at Andy C’s sold-out Wembley Arena show, ‘Dancing In The Dark’ packs visceral energy and high-tech, slamming bass that launches Breakbeat Kaos back to stratospheric new heights.
