Face To Face frontman Trever Keith announces visual art exhibitions and intimate shows ‘Sight And Sound’

Acclaimed songwriter Trever Keith, frontman of So Cal punk stalwarts Face To Face, is excited to announce ‘Sight and Sound: An Art Exhibition And Acoustic Performance,’ a limited engagement celebrating the seasoned musician’s debut as a visual artist. An “evening with”-style show with a storyteller acoustic set that will include Face To Face favorites and more, ‘Sight and Sound’ will also feature Keith’s first-ever series of paintings on display for viewing in person, which are themed on classic Face To Face songs, ‘Disconnected,’ ‘A-OK’ and ‘Blind.’

Sight and Sound will feature a four-night only run that will begin on Sunday, July 30th at The Lounge at City Winery in Nashville, TN, and extend to other cities such as New York, NY on Friday, August 18th at The Loft at City Winery, Chicago, IL on Sunday, August 20th at Cobra Lounge, and conclude on Friday, September 1st at The Parish Room at House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. Exclusive pre-order access is only available at each show for limited edition, signed, hand-numbered lithographs of the paintings, with online public pre-orders beginning after the performances on Friday, September 15. Local presale begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, and general on-sale is this Friday, June 30 at 10 a.m. local time.

Keith had the following to share about the upcoming art shows and performances: “Finding visual art as another outlet for my creative expression has been incredibly positive and cathartic for me. I think bringing the paintings into the music performance space is the most direct and natural way to share them first with the people who have been supporting me for more than 30 years.”

Recently, Keith released his heartfelt cover of ‘What Keeps Me Up Now,’ a song written by Benjamin Tod and released by Lost Dog Street Band on their album ‘Glory’ in 2022 that is a genuine examination of self-doubt and vulnerability that Keith identified with upon first listen. “When I first heard the song, I was immediately drawn in by the lyrics,” he said. “They are self-critical and introspective, much the same way I write my own. I love how the tone of the song is both haunting and yearning at the same time.” After performing the song live at solo acoustic sets around the US, Europe and even in South America at the beginning of 2023, Keith decided to record a version at his Nashville home studio. After releasing a cover of John Prine’s ‘Pretty Good’ in 2022, this is his third single as a solo artist in as many years.

30 years at the helm of one of punk rock’s most influential and enduring punk rock bands. 30 years of touring the globe from the Roxy to Red Rocks, Austin to Australia. 30 years of writing songs, writing books to riding buses. 30 years of face to face.

After three decades, Trever Keith still has plenty to say. It’s still as powerful as ever, it’s just quieter. In 2021, Keith moved back to Nashville, TN, and did something he rarely does: he stayed home, wrote songs alone on an acoustic guitar, and found new ideas and new inspirations. “When I first heard Zach Bryan, I was immediately drawn to his storytelling; the honesty and rebellion in those songs draw from the same creative well that punk rock does. Covering ‘Heading South’ (which Keith released in late 2021 under his own name) felt as natural to me as covering a Descendents song,” says Keith.

As the world started to emerge from its pandemic slumber, Keith hit the road again, only this time it was on his Triumph Bonneville. It wasn’t a tour of clubs but rather of the vast highways of the American Southwest. Upon his return, he connected with a crop of esteemed roots and Americana artists like Austin Lucas and Tim Vantol. These collaborations produced new sounds, new songs, and new plans — he toured Europe with Lucas in April/May and headlined shows in North and South America throughout 2022.

Currently, Keith is putting the finishing touches on the songwriting for his first solo Americana record he plans to begin recording later this year. Keith will be making the following appearances as part of Sight and Sound from July through September. Dates below.

August 18th – The Loft at City Winery – New York, NY
