MCSolomon and 5:55 bridge the gap between UK and Nepal with collaboration single ‘Om Namah Shivaya’

Based in both the UK and India, hip hop artist MCSolomon uses his unique position to collaborate with and showcase some of the most exciting rap talents from the hugely popular Indian hip hop scene. Bringing together sounds and influences from both cultural epicenters, he works with some of South Asia’s biggest names, bringing them to the fresh UK and worldwide audience via his own label Kamani Records.

Harnessing the mantra Knowledge Is Power” throughout his output, Solomon uses the current socio-political landscape as fuel as commentary in his music. His new single ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ features Nepal’s most popular rapper 5:55. The pair, who met at the Goa Hip Hop Festival in 2020 have collaborated to break down judgment in music and to explore the mixing of Asian and Eastern hip hop. The track echoes this cross-cultural ethos, as Nepalese and Indian sounds bounce off a skippy trap-hop beat. The music video, which features classical Indian dancers, who visually depict the two different paths we can choose in life.

‘Om Namah Shivaya’ is the third single from MCSolomon’s upcoming album ‘Behind The Mask’ which is produced by Oxford producer Asia Minor. The album also features fellow rappers Shaikhspeare and Niya Love, who featured on the previous single ‘As The World Turns.’
