If you thought that today, concerts can’t be as important as they used to be, think again. On their current Eastern and South European tour, Canadian hardcore five-piece Comeback Kid is set to play the Serbian capital, Belgrade. A concert is a big event in the hardcore community and another confirmation comes in a quite unusual way. With a mural. We caught up with Daniele Meucci from the MTM Ink crew to see what’s that all about.
So, tell us a bit more about your collective?
Daniele: MTM Ink is a visual art project with headquarter in Čumić, Belgrade. We like to call it an “art compound.” The project is run by me from Italy and Pascal Tosco from France in our place. We experiment with any kind of art, street art, and sometimes even music.
How did you get this idea, and what is the message behind it?
Daniele: We listen to a very wide range of genres, including hardcore, and we follow Comeback Kid. The multicolor nuclear bomb actually represents peace. It’s a contradiction that WWII ended with a couple of nukes to bring back peace. So it’s just a provocation – the little girl is complaining to God using Comeback Kid‘s lyrics.
Comeback Kid are currently on their South and Eastern European tour. They will play in Belgrade on January 23rd with support from Belgrade hardcore band Blankfile, and Novi Sad thrashcore mob Lazarath. You can also find our interview with Andrew Neufeld – here.
