Hotly tipped by NME, The Face, Mixmag, BBC Radio 1 Dance as a ‘Future Star,’ Spotify as their ‘Our Generation’ cover star, and more, only one month into 2022 and it’s been a big year for one of the UK’s most exciting new talents, Nia Archives. Now, she shares her latest single ‘Luv Like,’ a highly personal indie-inflected lo-fi jungle exploration of her struggles with body dysmorphia alongside a lo-fi VHS style video shot in Manchester.
The third single taken from her ‘Forbidden Feelingz’ EP coming up on the 10th March alongside the recent reggae leaning single sampling Cocoa Tea’s ‘Young Longer’‘18 & Over’ and the instant classic emotive banger ‘Forbidden Feelingz,’ this exciting six-track EP will see Nia writing music geared more towards the club and big sound systems. Exploring and presenting different sides of her artistry, this forthcoming project further solidifies her status as one of the most exciting new producers on the scene.
Speaking on the latest track, Nia says: “Although at first listen this track sounds like a typical lovesong. For me, when creating it I was writing about my personal struggle with Body Dysmorphia. Throughout the track I am pondering how someone could love someone through their highs and lows, loving freely flaws n all. I am also talking about learning to accept love whilst ultimately dealing with a warped perception of self and a distorted self-image.”
About the video, Delphino Productions adds: ”What a special project this was. Going to Manchester for the first time, capturing the vibes and energy. Nia was our tour guide, she was taking us to places that had a special sentimental value to her. We wanted to capture the softness and roughness of this feeling through the shots we took and editing decisions we made. This is our 4th project with Nia…we’re building a legacy. Who knows, we might even make a movie together one day…”
