The Cure frontman Robert Smith recently attended the NME Awards in London, where he discussed the band’s upcoming new record. According to Smith, the record will be called ‘Songs Of The Lost World,’ and it’s almost finished.
“I’ve been working on two Cure albums, and one of them is finished,” Smith shared. “Unfortunately, it’s the second one that’s finished.” The second one still needs some finishing: “I’ve got to do four vocals, and there are 10 songs on each album. We’re mixing next month on April 1, so I’ve got three weeks left.”
Apparently, it’s the ‘Songs Of The Lost World,’ that’s almost finished, as it already has artwork and running order, but fans shouldn’t hold their breaths just yet, as the soonest the record could see the light of day is September, depending on the known delays in vinyl production. “They’re so slow because of vinyl, but it might come in September. I’d rather it just came out. I can’t stand the anticipation,” he shared to NME.
The Cure released their most recent studio album ‘4:13 Dream’ back in 2008, while the latest offering from the band was a remix album ‘Torn Down’ released in 2018 and 2019′ live album ’40 Live (Curætion-25 + Anniversary).’. The band has also been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
