Multi-award-winning drum & bass producer S.P.Y is back with his latest project DARKMTTR Records, just in time for clubs to re-open.
After three albums on genre-leading Hospital Records, and two years since his last original music hit the shelves in the form of the much applauded ‘Dubplate Style LP,’ S.P.Y is proudly launching his new label as an outlet for his own productions as much as for collaborations and guests. Fans can expect the full spectrum from dark to liquid drum & bass.

Leading the charge is ‘Bad Monday,’ the first of the aptly titled four-track ‘DARKMTTR EP,’ rolling out in the coming weeks on the label. After an entire year of us all feeling like we’re stuck in a Bad Monday, S.P.Y echoes the mood perfectly here. ‘Bad Monday’ has S.P.Y’s trademark rolling beats, ravey elements and builds using subby b-lines and breakbeat fills. A moody vocal proclaims that ‘things can take a while on a bad Monday’ and makes the track instantly recognizable.
“It has been a long time coming and a lot of work behind the scenes but DARKMTTR Records launches this week,” shared S.P.Y. “Starting my own label is something that I’ve always wanted to do and it seems surreal that it’s finally happening. I have so much new music saved on hard drives that I never thought would be released, so I’m looking forward to getting it out there on DARKMTTR.”
“I’m also looking forward to using my label to support upcoming producers in the scene and will be accepting demos soon,” he adds. “Follow DARKMTTR on socials and subscribe to the mailing list to hear when the first release goes live – we’ve got some big things coming.”
