The Dangerous Summer cover Miley Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’

The Dangerous Summer have released a brand new cover of Miley Cyrus’ original track ‘We Can’t Stop,’ out now via Rude Records. The cover is part of the upcoming project, ‘Changing Tides,’ through the label’s charitable arm Rude Cares. Their charity branch is dedicated to fighting poverty, inequality, and discrimination.

Rude Records artists taking part in this project have recorded cover songs on environmental topics to raise their voices for a more sustainable environment. With each song, profits will be donated to the cause of “raising awareness and making the world a better place” through music. 100% of collected funds with the distribution of the cover songs will benefit Sea Shepherd.

Talking about ‘Changing Tides’ and their cover, AJ Perdomo says: “It is an honor to take part in ‘Changing Tides,’ a great way to give back to a charity that is doing great work. The Dangerous Summer has never done a cover before, so when I think of a great cover, I need to change it completely. I want to bring a song into The Dangerous Summer universe and make it have the same heart as we have. I also love to make something that surprises people and then gives a completely new perspective to a song that may be overlooked by our fans. ‘We Can’t Stop’ is one of the most incredible songs, and definitely a club banger. When you peel back the layers of the track though, you really see the incredible amount of emotion in the song.”

He continues: “In my thoughts, I feel like this is Miley Cyrus’‘Fuck Them All.’ It is a punk rock anthem about freedom and life, and about taking control of your own narrative and taking control of your own life. The progression, melody, and lyrics are undeniably emotional. So when I was in Italy, I played it on an organ. I tried to make it as dramatic as possible. Then when I got back I brought it into Will Beasley, who produced our last 2 records, and the unreleased new album ‘Gravity;’ and we chased that emotional feeling down a hole, and turned this song into a dramatic journey. I hope the world feels it and connects with it. Thank you so much to Rude for the opportunity.”

Following previous releases of Have Mercy’s ‘1979’, Izzy Mahoubi feat. Sydney Sprague’s ‘Big Yellow Taxi,’ Telltale’s ‘Help Is On The Way’, Superlove’s ‘Arguing With Thermometers’ and Sydney Sprague’s Underwater Boi covers.
