Reggae-punk supergroup, The Kilograms, have just dropped the final two singles from their debut album. ‘Lorelei’ is a ska song in the spirit of The Clash that captures the energy of a rowdy dive bar show, while ‘Battles’ is an anthemic punk rock number that feels akin to The Bouncing Souls and Rancid. Both are undeniably catchy and firmly put The Kilograms as one of the most exciting artists to be watching this year. After wrapping up a West Coast tour with Big D and the Kids Table and a St. Patty’s Day celebration in Boston with The Menzingers and Dropkick Murphys, The Kilograms will be releasing their debut album titled ‘Beliefs & Thieves’ on Friday, April 4th.
If you’re not familiar with The Kilograms, the band includes Joe Gittleman (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Avoid One Thing), Michael McDermott (ex-The Bouncing Souls, Joan Jett), Sammy Kay, J Duckworth (Newport Secret Six), and the newly added Craig Gorsline. Their debut album, ‘Beliefs & Thieves’, was recorded by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls and mixed by Paul Kolderie (Pixies, Radiohead, Morphine) and will be released on Friday, April 4th. You can preorder ‘Beliefs & Thieves’ from Rad Girlfriend Records and the band’s own recently minted label, Weights and Measures.
