The Punk Rock Museum announces tourguides and events for August

The Punk Rock Museum is the world’s most comprehensive attraction dedicated to the history of the music, the culture and the absurdity of punk rock. Located in Las Vegas, it houses artifacts and memorabilia from across the world’s punk scene—such as handwritten lyrics, instruments, clothing, photos, flyers and artwork. Encompassing 12,000 square feet at 1422 Western Ave, between the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown, the museum celebrates the genre’s substantial cultural impact over the last half-century. This year’s August tour guides are: Sean WheelerThrow Rag (August 2nd – 4th), Linh LeBad Cop/Bad Cop (August 9th – 11th), NorwoodFishbone (August 16th – 18th), Randy BradburyPennywise (August 23rd – 25th) and Slim Jim PhantomStray Cats (August 30th – September 1st).

‘Free Locals Day at the museum’

August 4th – Free Locals Day at the museum:

August 4th brings around our fourth Las Vegas Locals Free Day! Showcasing The Library District as our non-profit partner for this month, they will be doing a button making workshop perfect for teens before going back to school. In addition to that, Las Vegas Battle Jackets make their return to keep the community sewing, patching, and sharing resources together. We’ll have ‘Somethin’ to Taco ‘Bout’ food truck from 1 pm – 5 pm to satisfy any cravings you may have. A little later on in the day, The Shakewells will be shakin’ it in the Underground, featuring our very own Vegas legend, Rob Ruckus.

‘The Scene/Seen: Photographer Meet-Up’

August 11th – The Scene/Seen: Photographer Meet-Up:

Join The Punk Rock Museum on August 11th at 1 pm when we welcome esteemed photographers Oginee Viamontes, Rob Wallace, and Lisa Johnson in person to discuss capturing the Spirit of Punk in their works. The photographers will take a few questions from those in attendance. They will share career tips and tricks for fans of photography and ‘Tales from the Pit’ stories. Come hear what inspires these photographers to do what they do as they impart a wealth of knowledge for the next generation of punk photographers and image makers.

The museum will be free to attend for anyone under 18 who is accompanied by a paid adult guardian for this event.

Oginee Viamontes is a Los Angeles street photographer whose works are featured in the ‘My Shot’ photo exhibit currently on display in the museum.

Rob Wallace is a multi-talented photographer who is forever challenging himself to new heights. In addition to being an official photographer for Las Vegas’ own Punk Rock Bowling, Rob’s images can be seen on display in The Punk Rock Museum. His journey stands as a testament to his love for music, art, and photography, inspiring up-and-coming photographers to pursue their passions with the same dedication and creativity that has defined his career.

Lisa Johnson has been documenting the world around her ever since she can remember. Her photographs offer a rare, intimate connection between the artist and the fan. Her photographs are proudly displayed throughout The Punk Rock Museum.

‘Neon Lights exhibition opening’

August 23rd – Neon Lights exhibition opening:

The Punk Rock Museum presents a group art show on counter culture. Images that trigger the sublime and the subversive just like the music we preserve. Neon Lights is a group exhibition that evokes memories of our shared history. A history of universal experience, we all enjoy the same neon lights of Las Vegas. Just as we have enjoyed the same lights from the concerts we have attended from either the stage or the audience. This show features eclectic artists that through their work evoke memories attracting a viewer seemingly distanced from the punk rock world, yet they still remain firmly rooted in our shared community.

‘NOFX’s “Clay Pigeon” limited pressing’

August 24th – NOFX’s  ‘Clay Pigeon’ limited pressing will be available to purchase only at the museum store:

Join us on Saturday, August 24th at noon for the launch of our first release from The Punk Rock Museum Original Demos (TPRM OD’s)’. Be among the first to grab the limited-edition Vic Variant of NOFX’s ‘Clay Pigeon’, available only in the museum’s store (while supplies last).

The Punk Rock Museum Original Demos (TPRM OD’s)’ is the museum’s label that will be releasing original demos on limited edition vinyl.

“I thought it would be cool to get the original demo tapes from great bands and release them through the museum. It’s just more great history that should be seen and heard.”  – Fat Mike.

Plus, we will be doing some giveaways of The Punk Rock Museum beer at the bar brought to you by Beer Zombies.

Randy Bradbury will be your tour guide, so don’t miss this chance to explore the museum with him—get your tickets now.
