The State of Vermont to honor Jake Burton Carpenter with a new $1 coin

Legendary snowboard brand Burton announced their founder Jake Burton Carpenter will be honored with a special issue of $1 coin released by the State of Vermont. If you would like to own a little piece of snowboarding history, you can purchase the new coin HERE.

About the project, the band shared: ” Since 2020, we’ve worked with the United States Mint and the Governor of Vermont Phil Scott to design Vermont’s one-dollar coin for the “American Innovation” series. This multi-year series honors innovation and innovators by issuing $1 coins for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories.”

They added: “While the concept of riding a board downhill on snow has existed since at least the 1920s, and perhaps for centuries before, snowboarding’s technological development and transformation from a novel recreation to a worldwide phenomenon are tied closely to the state of Vermont.”

“This new dollar coin featuring a snowboarder represents Jake Burton Carpenter, Burton, and Vermont’s unique role in pioneering snowboarding’s art, community, and culture,” the brand shared on their socials.
